Maxwell Sargent has been driven by a nearly fanatical religious zeal since his days as an altar boy. His faith is deep and sincere, yet a priest he served with awakened his awareness of sexual passion. Despite taking vows and joining the arch-conservative Catholic community of Opus Dei, he cannot escape the allure of the sexual temptation presented by young altar boys.
